Home pools (villas, complex courtyards) are either made of concrete, which is prone to cracking and leaking, or prefabricated FRP. Prefabricated FRP pools are made using vinyl ester or isophthalic resin and multiple layers of fiberglass through spray-up or hand lay-up methods in molds. The final gelcoat (epoxy or polyester) creates a smooth, glossy, and anti-slip surface.
The most important advantage of these pools is the absence of seams and joints (one-piece construction), which completely prevents water leakage. Additionally, the non-porous surface is resistant to chlorine, water treatment chemicals, and algae, making cleaning very easy. An FRP pool weighs about one-tenth of a concrete equivalent and can be installed within one day. Alborz Organic Materials Company supplies vinyl ester resins with high hydrolytic resistance (against hot water and chemicals) and specialty gelcoats for pools.
