FRP grating (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic Grating) is a type of lightweight, open-grid flooring used in factory walkways, refinery platforms, port docks, wastewater treatment plants, and power plants. There are two main types: molded grating, made by compression molding of polyester resin with short fiberglass, and pultruded grating, produced by continuous pultrusion, which has higher unidirectional strength.
Key advantages of this grating compared to steel: 70% lighter weight (ease of handling and installation), no corrosion (suitable for wet and chemical environments), non-electrical conductivity (safety against electric shock), and slip-resistant surface (achieved by adding silica particles or special mold patterns). FRP grating is resistant to sulfuric acid, caustic soda, solvents, and seawater.
