Solar panel

Solar (photovoltaic) panels typically have an aluminum frame and a glass front, but the back sheets, junction boxes, and mounting structures on rooftops or ground are made of FRP composite or molded polyester. Isophthalic polyester resin with UV and dust-resistant additives provides high resistance to environmental conditions. Compression molding (SMC) or injection molding (BMC) is used for mass production of these parts.

Using composite instead of aluminum in solar panel frames reduces system weight and lowers overall cost. Additionally, composite is electrically insulating, eliminating the risk of electric shock during installation and maintenance.
