Storage tanks for corrosive chemicals (sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, caustic soda), purified water, and fuels are made of FRP with vinyl ester or isophthalic polyester resin. The manufacturing method is filament winding or hand lay-up for large diameters (up to 20 meters). FRP tanks have an inner resin-rich corrosion barrier layer (2 to 5 mm thick) that withstands direct contact with the chemical.
Compared to coated steel tanks (rubber-lined or glass-lined), FRP tanks are significantly lighter, easier to install, and require no periodic maintenance. Resistance to temperatures up to 100°C and pressures up to 10 bar is achievable. Alborz Organic Materials Company supplies high-purity vinyl ester resins with international certifications (such as ISO 14692) for industrial tank manufacturing.
