The hull and deck of jet skis (personal watercraft) are subjected to repeated wave impacts, collisions with floating objects, and direct sunlight. These hulls are manufactured using isophthalic polyester resin or vinyl ester resin and fiberglass, through vacuum infusion or hand lay-up methods. The use of a PVC or foam core in the intermediate layers increases flexural strength and reduces final weight.
The advantage of using vinyl ester resin in jet skis is its high resistance to saltwater, fuel, and oil.
